About Ascend Web Media

I've Seen Marketing Evolve

I've been in digital marketing for over 20 years. In that time, I've worked with chiropractors, financial advisors, mortgage brokers, real estate agents, ecommerce brands, HVAC companies, roofing contractors, insurance brokers, home builders, staffing firms, manufacturing companies, and other agencies. Not as a generalist dabbling across verticals — as someone who had to understand each one well enough to actually move the needle.

I've helped companies go from generating almost no leads online to being acquired by organizations worth billions. I've watched markets shift, watched consumer behavior change, watched the tools that worked in 2010 stop working in 2015 and the tools that worked in 2020 stop working now.

"That breadth gave me something: pattern recognition. I know what works in local lead generation because I've run it across dozens of industries, through multiple algorithm cycles, across different types of buyers."

I know what transfers and what doesn't. And I know how to spot when something fundamentally new is happening before most of the industry catches on.

Local Search Changed.
Most Agencies Didn't.

Around 2023, something started shifting in how people were finding local professionals. AI assistants — ChatGPT, Google's AI search, Siri, Gemini — were entering the local search equation in a real way. When someone wanted to find a chiropractor or a financial advisor, they weren't just typing into Google and clicking links anymore. They were asking an AI, and the AI was generating an answer.

The signals those AI systems relied on were different from what most agencies were optimizing for. A well-run Google Business Profile suddenly mattered a lot more. Structured content that AI could actually parse became a ranking factor. Local authority, the kind built by consistent citations, quality content, and real community presence, was what made the AI trust you enough to recommend you.

Most generalist agencies weren't built for this. The enterprise AEO players focused on AI search weren't interested in local businesses. And nobody was doing both, local search and AI search visibility, as a connected system, specifically for the professional practices where it matters most.

That's the gap Ascend is built to fill.

HOW WE WORK

The Three-Layer Stack

AEO & AI Search Visibility

AEO & AI Search is how your practice earns a spot in AI-generated answers, not just search result lists. When a patient asks "who's the best chiropractor in Austin," AEO is what puts you in that answer. Almost no practices are doing this yet.

Local SEO

Local SEO is the authority layer underneath everything else. Search engines and AI systems need to trust that your practice is legitimate and established before they'll surface it confidently. We build that trust systematically so visibility sticks.

Google Business Profile Optimization

Your GBP is the primary signal AI assistants use when recommending local providers. Most practices set it up once and forget it. We treat it as an active content channel — optimizing every element for both traditional search and AI recommendations.
